I have apps installed that do what I want and to find “Secure Browser” taking over the associations for no reason whatsoever, and without ANY prompting, is just straight up annoying, and not worth my time to deal with.
I’m not impressed with the way this software simply installs itself, seemingly around the time of Windows updating itself as well
This, is the common timing of it. Every time that windows does a big update that AVG needs to be updated as well, mysteriously AVG tags along and updates, installing this crud.

AV shouldn’t need a browser at all, but the mistake this company makes, is thinking it’s needed. To which that’s a whole lot of PCs which will no longer have AVG installed on it.
I will also be spreading my concerns to others, as really, no-one should have to have this happen to them.
AVG just lost a hardcore 20 year user. Thanks for screwing my machines up without prompting. Truely awesome indication of how good this product is.
We have checked the conversation that you had with our social media team in Facebook. We have checked with our product specialist team and they have confirmed that AVG secure browser will not get installed automatically. The only possible thing that would have happened is that the few seconds delay in the appearance of the check boxes with the tick mark to install and make AVG secure browser as default, once the AVG Antivirus has been updated. We request you to refer the below image which will show you the screen that I referred here:
We suggest customers to wait for the content appearing on this screen and then click on “continue”, so that they don’t miss what is being installed after clicking on continue. However, we apologize for the inconvenience that you experienced on this matter. If you have our AVG Antivirus free program installed, open its program interface and click on “MenuAboutSubmit Feedback” to submit a feedback regarding this.
What I think is sad is that AVG makes one mistake and even takes it upon themselves to try and rectify the issue, but some of you guys make it a free for all to go off on these guys that are simply trying to do their job and actually being very professional and trying to genuinelly address and solve user concerns.
But the BIGGEST and saddest thing of all & anyone who reads this whos honest has to agree, that the loudest voices that made the biggest whine and complaint about this. Are the very same users that use AVG 100% FOR FREE. So not only are they getting a time tested reliable antivirus that stands behind their many years of postive and respected reputation but their using the free version costing them ZERO money. but yet they have all this pent up furstration about AVG not meeting their expectations. Last thing I’ll reveal how to use say. I’m a user and in no way asspcoated with AVG. But next time you want to complain so loudly why don’t you just stop using AVG’s free services and go pay for better ones some other place that meets your whine and gives you some cheese with it!
When installing the AVG Secure VPN, you would have has an option to install the AVG Secure Browser as well. Since the option was un – ticked by you, the AVG Secure Browser was installed along with the AVG Secure VPN.
